Before you apply: a checklist for your internship application

Students working together at a laptop

An application on LIA4ALL can't be changed once it's sent. So spend ten minutes preparing. It makes it easier for the company to see what you can do and why their internship suits you.

01

Start with the listing

Read the whole listing and note the tasks, dates, location and work mode. Check that the period fits your program before you spend time on the application. If you're unsure, ask your school's internship coordinator first.

Save the listing if you're not ready to apply yet. You'll find it under Saved when you have more time.

  • Do the dates fit your program?
  • Can you work on site, hybrid or remotely as the listing describes?
  • Which skills do you need to show with a concrete example?
02

Adapt your answers, not your whole profile

Your profile goes with every application, so you don't need to rewrite it each time. Put your effort into the company's questions instead. Pick two or three experiences that fit the internship and briefly say what you did and what came of it.

Avoid broad words like “driven” and “thorough”. A small project where your part is clear says more than a long list of tools.

03

Check before you send

Read the application as if you were the supervisor. It should be quick to understand who you are, what you're looking for and how the company can see your work.

  • Links work and projects can be opened.
  • Your profile is complete and shows you're available for LIA.
  • Your answers are concrete and written for this company.
  • Attachments are the right files with clear names.
04

After you've sent it

On the Applications page you see when your application is in review, when you reach interview and when you have an offer. If you get a no, you can apply to the same internship again after three months.
